Respiratory Care: Bachelor's of Science
This bachelor’s degree offers students a greater ability to advance to management and leadership roles within the profession, to become advanced caregivers, to conduct health related research, and to become educators in the field. Increasingly, Respiratory Care Practitioners are taking on responsibilities, formerly conducted by physicians, requiring a greater level of critical thinking and analytical skills.
Students must successfully pass all courses required for this degree with a minimum of “C” (or “P”) and maintain an overall minimum 2.0 GPA. Additionally, students pursuing this degree must work with a counselor and faculty advisor to ensure all requirements have been met.
Career Opportunities
Provide graduates of entry into respiratory care professional practice degree programs with additional knowledge, skills, and attributes in leadership, management, education, research, and/or advanced clinical practice that will enable them to meet their current professional goals and prepare them for practice as advance degree respiratory therapists.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Apply knowledge of advanced Respiratory Care concepts and functions in an integrated approach.
- Draw on multiple sources of analysis, research, and critical thinking to address a problem and construct an applicable project focused on Respiratory Care.
- Demonstrate entry-level competencies in the domains of management, ethics, community engagement and project development as they relate to the discipline of respiratory therapy.

The program will award 13 Units of Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) with proof of:
- Successful passing of High Cut Score TMC and earning the Registered Respiratory Credential (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (BSRC).
- An unencumbered license to practice from the Respiratory Care Board of California or from another state licensing board.
- Completion of the State Law and Ethics course through the CSRC or AARC.
